ZKTeco PB4000: Parking Barrier for Vehicle Control

The ZKTeco PB4000 is a spring-driven parking barrier with die-cast aluminium motor, anti-crash IR and loop integration, manual release for power outages and a powder-coated steel housing. Telescopic, folding-boom and LED variants suit lane heights and clearance constraints. The volume mid-tier vehicle barrier for NZ public carparks, apartment driveways, hotels and council facilities.

Description

The PB4000 is the spring-driven parking barrier that sits below the servo-driven ProBG3000 in the ZKTeco range. The technology trade-off is straightforward: the PB4000 is cheaper upfront but uses springs that need periodic re-tensioning; the ProBG3000 is more expensive but has no spring to drift.

When PB4000 is the right call vs ProBG3000

  • Pick the PB4000 when: Daily cycle counts are moderate (under a few hundred); upfront cost matters more than 5?10 year operating cost; the site can accept periodic spring re-tensioning as part of routine maintenance.
  • Pick the ProBG3000 when: Daily cycle counts are sustained (above a few hundred); the site can’t afford regular service callouts; reliability over 5?10 years matters more than upfront price.
  • Practical breakpoint: Above roughly 300?400 cycles a day, the ProBG3000’s lower maintenance cost catches up with its higher upfront price. Below that, the PB4000 stays cheaper over the asset life.

Boom variants ? pick to suit the lane

  • Telescopic boom: Extends and retracts to clear narrow lanes where a fixed-length boom would foul adjacent walls or pillars.
  • Folding boom: Folds upward at a hinge midway along its length ? for sites with overhead clearance constraints (low awnings, parkade ceilings).
  • LED-integrated boom: Visibility lighting along the boom for nighttime operation at unmanned sites.

Real NZ deployments

  • Public council carparks: Pay-and-display entries with paid-stay or season-ticket access.
  • Shopping mall carpark entries: Tenant and visitor vehicle access with ticketed entry.
  • Apartment and body-corporate carparks: Resident-only entries on credential read.
  • Hotel guest parking: Guest-validated entry from the front desk.
  • Mid-size commercial offices: Staff carpark gates without enterprise-scale cycle volumes.
  • Sports clubs and community venues: Member-only carpark entries with occasional event-day surge.

Specifying it

  • Motor: Die-cast aluminium with double springs.
  • Anti-crash: External IR sensors plus loop detector inputs prevent boom-on-vehicle damage.
  • Manual release: Boom can be lifted manually during power loss.
  • Cooling: Built-in fan for sustained operation in NZ summer temperatures.
  • Boom variants: Telescopic, folding-boom, LED-integrated ? confirm lane and clearance at site survey.
