Description
The FBL6000 Pro is the flap barrier specified when the site wants both physical denial and modern aesthetics ? the middle ground between an optical turnstile (no barrier, fast and open) and a tripod (physical arm, utilitarian look). The acrylic flaps retract into the cabinet on a valid credential read, then return to closed position behind the user.
Where flap sits between optical and tripod
- Optical (OP1000): No physical barrier. Fastest throughput. Reception-led aesthetic. Relies on alarms and security staff response.
- Flap (FBL6000 Pro): Retracting acrylic barriers. Modern aesthetic. Physical denial. Mid-range throughput.
- Swing (SBTL-series): Swinging glass arms. Similar aesthetic to flap. Different mechanical action ? arms pivot rather than retract.
- Tripod (TS-series): Physical metal arm. Utilitarian look. Cheapest. Workhorse for industrial sites.
Why the modular reader design matters
The FBL6000 Pro accepts different reader types via a pull-out and plug-in slot ? change the reader from RFID to facial recognition (or add a QR reader alongside) without rebuilding the cabinet. For sites where the credential strategy might evolve over the asset life (a new venue starting on cards and later moving to face), this saves the rebuild cost when the change happens.
Where it earns its place in NZ
- Modern corporate receptions: Architectural fit-outs in Auckland and Wellington CBD where the turnstile is part of the brand experience.
- Airport and rail terminal entries: Both staff and ticketed-passenger entries at major transit hubs.
- Premium hotel back-of-house: Staff entries where the visible-from-public aesthetic still matters.
- Premium retail and luxury venues: Member-only access at high-end retail and exhibition spaces.
- University main library and faculty entries: Student-card entry on architecturally significant campus entries.
- Government department public entries: Public-facing reception with physical denial requirements.
Specifying it
- Cabinet: SUS304 stainless steel; retracting flaps in acrylic.
- Reader integration: Modular slot ? RFID, fingerprint, QR, palm, facial recognition.
- Operation: Smooth and silent at typical retail and reception noise levels.
- Emergency mode: Flaps automatically retract on power loss or fire-alarm input.
- Mounting: Floor-fixed; confirm slab depth and reinforcement at site survey.
