Ceiling-embedded AI sensor for privacy-conscious visitor-flow counting, store analytics and commercial occupancy insight.
ZKDigimax DG05-PC5 people counting sensor is a ceiling-embedded AI camera designed for commercial visitor-flow statistics and operational insight. Installed overhead, it captures pedestrian body images from a vertical perspective for passenger-flow analysis, helping retailers and venue operators understand how people move through a location without relying on facial recording for the stated Re-ID workflow.
For shopping malls, supermarkets, brand chains and high-traffic commercial sites, dependable visitor data can support better decisions about staffing, layouts, service levels and campaign performance. The DG05-PC5 is designed to measure people entering and leaving, store passenger flow and regional attention, with the ability to support heat-map analysis and passenger-flow history as part of a correctly configured solution.
The sensor’s top-view installation is intended to capture pedestrian body information from above rather than a conventional face-forward camera angle. ZKDigimax states that the product supports Re-ID without recording faces, while using offline processing capabilities including pedestrian capture, quality analysis and body-feature extraction. The appropriate data-handling, privacy and signage requirements still depend on the site, deployment purpose and the organisation’s obligations.
Its Sony 5MP starlight CMOS sensor is specified with a minimum illumination of 0.01 lux, multiple-frame HDR and 2.5 times video definition. A quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 SoC with RISC-V MCU and NPU provides up to 2 TOPS of inference performance. This combination gives project teams a purpose-built platform for people counting and related analytics rather than attempting to derive the same result from a general-purpose camera alone.
The DG05-PC5 is designed for embedded ceiling installation, with an embedded section measuring 54 mm in diameter by 77 mm high and an exposed section measuring 68 mm in diameter by 8.6 mm high. The stated installation-height range is 2.2 to 14 m, with coverage width up to 6 m. Final accuracy and coverage depend on the mounting position, ceiling height, pedestrian paths, lighting, scene complexity and the configuration applied to the location.
It supports 10/100 Mbps adaptive RJ45 networking and PoE 802.3af power, simplifying structured-cabling planning where a suitable PoE network is available. The device supports H.264/H.265 real-time dual-stream video compression up to 2560 × 1920 at 25 fps plus 1280 × 720 at 25 fps, and ONVIF, RTSP, RTP and RTCP streaming protocols for integration planning.
Before the device is installed, define the entrances or zones to be measured, the reporting periods that matter and how the data will inform action. A planned deployment helps ensure the sensor is positioned for the intended pedestrian movement and that the resulting counts and analytics are meaningful to store, venue or operations teams. NZTeco can assist with the site, network and integration considerations for a practical rollout.
Use this top-view AI people-counting sensor for retail entrances, supermarket aisles, shopping centres, brand stores and other commercial spaces where footfall and visitor-flow insight inform operations. ZKDigimax specifies a passenger-flow accuracy of at least 98% in standard scenarios; this is a performance target that relies on a suitable site survey, installation and calibration.
