ZKTeco MKW-V: Waterproof Standalone Access Control Device

The ZKTeco MKW-V is a dual-mode access keypad that runs as a fully standalone door controller for one-door sites, or as a Wiegand slave reader feeding a zkbio cvaccess panel later ? same hardware, two deployment paths. IP65 metal housing, 5,000-user capacity, RFID and PIN verification, vertical form factor for door surrounds. Suits NZ sites that want a future-proof exterior keypad.

Description

The MKW-V solves a specific dilemma: the buyer wants a one-door standalone keypad now, but might add networked access control later, and doesn’t want to scrap the keypad when that day comes. The MKW-V handles both ? out of the box it operates standalone, when the upgrade happens it switches into slave-reader mode and plugs into a controller without replacement.

How it differs from the MK-V

  • Capacity: 5,000 users vs the MK-V’s smaller buffer ? sized for sites that grow.
  • Dual-mode operation: MK-V is standalone-only; MKW-V switches between standalone and slave-reader modes as the site evolves.
  • Form factor: Vertical orientation ? fits standard door-frame mounting beside the door leaf.
  • IP rating: IP65 metal ? covered exterior installs and most outdoor sites.
  • Verification: Card, password, or card + password combined for higher security on any single door.

Where the MKW-V earns its keep in NZ

  • Multi-tenant residential and body-corporate: Apartment building common doors with shared keypad access ? easy upgrade to networked control if the body corporate later wants audit trail.
  • Small commercial sites planning growth: Single-door businesses that intend to expand to a multi-door access system within a few years.
  • Warehouse personnel doors: Standalone today, slaved into a future zkbio cvaccess deployment when the warehouse rolls out site-wide access.
  • Construction site offices and yards: Standalone for the project duration; redeploy as a slave reader at the company’s permanent yard afterwards.
  • Council and community facilities: Single-door setups at libraries and community halls that may later integrate into the council’s centralised access platform.
  • School staff doors: Standalone for back-of-house doors, with the option to slave into a campus-wide system when the budget arrives.

Specifying it

  • Form: Vertical orientation ? confirm the mounting surface allows tall over wide.
  • Capacity: 5,000 users plus 5,000 password slots.
  • Verification: Touch keypad with 4?6 digit codes, plus 125 kHz EM card reading (Mifare variant available ? confirm at order).
  • Output: Built-in relay for direct lock control in standalone mode; Wiegand 26/34 in slave mode.
  • Software: Programmes locally via the keypad in standalone mode; slaves into ZKBio CVAccess when networked.
