ZKTeco G4L: Multi-Biometric Identification Terminal with Enhanced Visible Light Facial Recognition

The ZKTeco G4L pairs visible-light facial recognition with SilkID fingerprint authentication on a 7-inch touchscreen ? built for sites where face is the primary read but fingerprints need to work reliably on wet, dry or rough hands. Wireless-ready for retrofits without new Cat6 runs, and 10,000-user capacity for mid-sized NZ deployments. Sits in the Green Label range for time-and-attendance clock-in.

Description

The G4L solves a specific NZ problem: face recognition is fast and clean for most staff, but a percentage of any workforce ? chefs, mechanics, nurses, builders ? have fingers that wear, scar or stay wet, and standard fingerprint sensors fail on them constantly. The G4L addresses both with one device.

Why SilkID matters in the field

SilkID is ZKTeco’s premium fingerprint sensor ? it reads through moisture and surface debris that defeat ordinary optical sensors. In practice that means fewer “please try again” prompts at 7am shift change and fewer manual overrides by the supervisor. Combined with the G4L’s facial recognition fallback, you get a primary-and-backup workflow that handles real workforces, not just demo conditions.

Where it fits in the ZKTeco range

  • vs. G3 Pro: The G3 Pro leads with palm vein recognition. Pick the G3 Pro for sites where palm hygiene and anti-spoofing matter most (healthcare, food processing). Pick the G4L for sites where face is fine but you need rock-solid fingerprint backup.
  • vs. SpeedFace V5L: The SpeedFace is face-led and access-control-leaning. The G4L is built for time-and-attendance clock-in with a bigger 7-inch screen for shift-rule prompts and roster confirmations.
  • vs. Elite Access: The Elite Access is the outdoor enterprise face reader. The G4L is indoor, mid-capacity, and dual-modal.

Real NZ deployments

  • Hospitality and restaurant chains: Kitchen and back-of-house clock-in for chefs and dishwashers whose fingers are routinely wet.
  • Engineering workshops and mechanical trades: Staff with grease, oil and worn fingerprints ? face primary, SilkID backup.
  • Aged care and rest homes: Staff entry and clock-in with full PPE compatibility on the face read.
  • Construction yards and depots: Site office clock-in over Wi-Fi, no Cat6 to a portacom required.
  • Light manufacturing: Shift-change throughput with reliable reads for everyone, not just office staff.
  • Schools and tertiary admin: Staff-only entry with audit trail integrated into ZKBio Time Cloud.

Specifying it

  • Capacity: 10,000 users with separate quotas for face and fingerprint templates.
  • Display: 7-inch touchscreen ? large enough for shift-rule prompts and roster confirmations.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi (built in), Ethernet, Wiegand output for downstream access controllers.
  • Software: ZKBio Time Cloud for T&A and zkbio cvaccess for door access ? same enrolment serves both.
  • Mounting: Indoor only ? sheltered foyer or back-of-house wall.
