ProjectOverview
Client
Always Pilates — Auckland CBD (on-demand reformer studio with online booking and memberships; located in the city centre near Commercial Bay/Britomart).
System integrator
AR Electronics — designed, installed and commissioned the solution. We supplied the hardware/software and provided technical support.
The Situation
Members purchase sessions or memberships online via Mindbody. The studio needed door access that matched a member’s active period (start/end), without staff issuing or revoking keys every time a booking changed. They also wanted phone-based entry so members could arrive for early/late sessions with minimal friction.
The Solution
- Controller: ZKTeco Atlas 260 (2-door controller with built-in web app for users, schedules and access groups — no separate server required).
- Reader: Armatura EP20C multi-tech reader supporting mobile credentials via Bluetooth / NFC and dynamic QR codes (EP20C series with QR variant). Rugged IK10/IP68 with OSDP v2.2 secure comms.
- Workflow: After a member buys a pass or membership in Mindbody, they’re issued an Armatura Mobile Credential (BLE/NFC/QR). The Atlas controller applies time-bound access (user validity + schedules). When the membership ends, access stops automatically.

The ZKTeco Atlas Bio Series is a 1, 2 or 4-door access control panel with onboard fingerprint storage and matching, plus a built-in web app for browser-based setup. No separate ZKBio server required. Stores up to 10,000 fingerprints and 20,000 cardholders, with PoE, OSDP and Wiegand reader support for clean integration into existing or new fit-outs.
Why this suits boutique studios
Phone as the key
Members open the door with a dynamic QR on screen, Bluetooth “tap”, or NFC — no cards to issue.
Time-bound access
Atlas handles user validity periods and schedules, so access matches the membership window.
Low admin
Built-in web app = add/edit users, doors and reports from a browser; no PC software to maintain.
Hardened hardware
EP20C is outdoor-ready with IP68/IK10 and encrypted OSDP v2.2 for the reader link.
Implementation notes
Door kit
Atlas 260 with EP20C and strike/exit hardware.
Credentials
Armatura Mobile Credential issued to members (BLE/NFC) + dynamic QR option for quick pickup and guest scenarios.
Schedules & validity
Access groups per membership type; start/end dates added at enrolment; public holidays handled in the controller calendar.
Handover
AR Electronics trained studio staff to issue credentials and review access logs via the web console.
Outcomes
- Frictionless entry across early/late bookings — no keys/cards.
- Automatic cut-off at membership end time; fewer manual revokes.
- Cleaner audit trail with user-level logs in Atlas.
- Reliable hardware in a CBD setting (vandal-resistant reader + secure OSDP).
