The ZKTeco uFace401 Plus is the T&A-focused terminal in the uFace range with optional 4-hour backup battery ? sized for sites where mains power isn’t fully reliable. Face, palm, optional fingerprint and card, 4.3-inch touch, TCP/IP and optional Wi-Fi or 3G. Suits NZ remote depots, construction site offices, rural retail and any commercial site where a power flicker shouldn’t lose a clock-in record.

Description

The uFace401 Plus is the uFace variant most commonly specified when the install location has unreliable mains power ? construction site offices on temporary supply, rural retail with overhead-line outages, remote council depots, off-grid forestry blocks. The optional 4-hour battery keeps the terminal recording clock-ins through outages that would silently drop events on other terminals.

The battery story matters more than people expect

A typical NZ regional site sees several short power events a year ? line maintenance, weather, transformer trips. Without backup, every event during an outage either fails to clock or silently fails-over to manual paper records that nobody fills in. With the 4-hour battery, the terminal queues events locally and posts to ZKBio Time Cloud when power and connectivity return. Payroll lands clean, no manual reconciliation needed.

How it differs from other uFace models

  • vs 402 Plus: The 402 is the T&A-with-full-access-integration sibling. The 401 is the T&A-focused model where door access is secondary or absent.
  • vs 602 Plus: The 602 adds anti-passback, duress mode and full access-control feature set. The 401 stays simple ? the call is whether the site needs the security features or just T&A clock-in.
  • vs MB560-VL: The MB560-VL is smaller (2.8-inch screen, 3,000 templates). The 401 has the larger 4.3-inch screen and the battery option that the MB560-VL doesn’t.

Real NZ deployments

  • Construction site offices on temporary supply: Generator and grid-tied portacoms where power isn’t always clean.
  • Rural retail and farm shops: Single-line rural supply with seasonal outages.
  • Council outdoor depots: Yards on fringe supply with occasional weather-related drops.
  • Forestry and agricultural processing: Remote sites where 3G is the primary communications path.
  • Tourism and hospitality on rural routes: Lodges, vineyards and accommodation with intermittent supply.
  • Marine berths and port-side offices: Salt-air supply with occasional flicker.

Specifying it

  • Backup: Optional 4-hour battery ? order at the same time as the terminal; retrofitting later is messier.
  • Connectivity: TCP/IP, USB, optional Wi-Fi, optional 3G.
  • Capacity: 3,000 face, 3,000 palm, 4,000 fingerprint, 10,000 card.
  • Software: ZKBio Time Cloud for T&A; access control optional via Wiegand output.
  • Mounting: Indoor only.
